Fort Lauderdale is a city on the rise, along with the rest of South Florida. As this city becomes more and more prevalent and popular, comparisons are bound to be made to cities within its proximity, namely Miami. Competition breeds innovation, but the race is far from fair. The incredible
city of Ft. Lauderdale is fast outpacing Miami at every turn.
This city has always been a diamond in the rough, but with a massive surge of new businesses and contributions to the city’s commercial and residential real estate, particularly from VCM Builders, it has truly transformed into South Florida’s local paradise.
5 Ways Ft. Lauderdale Surpasses Miami
This city truly has it all. From gorgeous beaches, to finely brewed craft beers, there’s something here for everyone. Join us as we take a look at ten different ways that this city is outpacing Miami at every turn.
1. The Funky Buddha Brewery
Mainstream beer companies are constantly looking for ways to suppress the craft beer makers out there, but Funky Buddha is out to make sure these unique (and in many cases superior) flavors don’t get pushed to the wayside. The image of Siddhartha Gautama is certainly one that calls to mind a person who enjoys a fine brew.
Originally based out of Boca, this craft brewery now has a 40,000 square-foot headquarters in Oakland Park. They are incredibly confident of their projects, such as a Maple Bac on Coffee Porter that was awarded the top porter in the world by ratebeer.com. With a taproom, games, and more, this is quite the attraction.
2. Forks & Balls Restaurant
Las Olas Boulevard is the shining central hub of Ft. Lauderdale, and for good reason. One such example of its fine dining is the Forks & Balls Restaurant, which features gourmet meatballs in chicken, beef, turkey, pork, and kale variations. Pair these with a variety of pastas and flavors ranging from spicy Italian to a southwestern flare and you have one of the most unique restaurants in South Florida.
3. Sorry M.I.A
Who wants to try and brave the crowds of the Miami International Airport? If you’re heading to South Florida you don’t even need to set foot in that madhouse. The Fort Lauderdale Airport is a local secret and only a 10-minute drive to downtown Fort Lauderdale or 30 minutes to Miami.
4. Beer at Board Games at Riverside Market
While it’s officially a cafe, Riverside Market offers over 550 kinds of craft beer in both bottle and tap form. While you’re there, you can participate in the wildly popular Riverside Beer Bingo Night on the first Wednesday of each month.
Once you’re done here, you can jump across the street to the Craft Beer Cartel which carries all sorts of tools to make your own beer at home. As a joint-venture involving one of Riverside’s co-founders, and Native Brewing Company, they also offer brewing classes for those looking to learn.
5. Hotel Prices
While Miami is charging incredibly high prices for their resorts, Fort Lauderdale is offering reasonable deals for luxurious options. With rooms starting much lower than in Miami, you’ll have plenty of money left over to enjoy all that the city has to offer.
