VanDutch and Owners' Choice title company partnered up for the unveiling of Macken Companies' sophisticated Las Olas Waterfront Estate. The firm recently hosted a cocktail party at the $5 million home, where it revealed three additional new projects. Attendees toured the 8,200 square-foot residence, boarded a $1.7 million 55-foot VanDutch motor yacht and enjoyed live entertainment.

Macken Companies has announced that construction is underway at Parallel 1, a new townhome project located at 1307 SE 2nd Ct. located one block from Fort Lauderdale’s Las Olas Blvd. VCM Builders, an affiliate of Macken Companies, is constructing Parallel and is currently on the second floor. Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016.

Developer Plans Homes, Townhomes on Colee Hammock sites

Developer Alan S. Macken paid $775,000 for two properties in the historic Colee Hammock neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale. The sites at 1305 SE 1st St. and 1307 SE 2nd Court are three blocks north of Las Olas Boulevard. The seller was Colee Landing LLC. Macken plans custom homes and townhomes on the land.

Alan Macken and his partners in the Palmetto Park joint venture scored a major coup for their Miami Gardens shopping center when they landed the world's largest retailer as a tenant.
The group's Palmetto Gardens Plaza has a new anchor, a 40,000-square-foot WalMart Neighborhood Market, one of the latest of a series of large retail stores planned for South Florida. A proposed store is in the works for Palm Springs North and a long-running campaign has sought to bring a 203,000-square-foot Wal-Mart Supercenter to Midtown Miami. Meanwhile, Broward County commissioners have cleared the way for a $100 million Wal-Mart-anchored shopping center in Fort Lauderdale.

Construction on this portion of the plaza is scheduled to be complete by the third quarter of 2015. Construction on a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Store, which will serve as anchor tenant, is underway and will open in the fourth quarter 2014.

To foster development and increase their tax base, North Miami Beach officials are preparing a series of zoning changes that should encourage mixed­use high­rises in certain parts of the city. The proposed changes, drafted by Pompano Beach­based consulting firm Redevelopment Management Associates, would allow 30­story residential high­rises on the west side of Maule Lake and just north of the site of the Marina Palms Yacht Club & Residences project.

As construction continues on the 62,000-square-foot shopping center here, the ownership of Palmetto Gardens Plaza reports it has inked three new lease deals at the property. The new leases were signed with national retailers T-Mobile and Cell Phone Repair and Lee Nails, which has a number of other locations throughout the state of Florida. Construction on this portion of the plaza is scheduled to be complete by the 3rd quarter of 2015. Work is also in progress on a new Walmart Neighborhood Store location, which will be the anchor for the
center. The new 41,000-square-foot store is scheduled to open sometime during the fourth quarter of this year.
